Starting some time late in 1950s was a romantic effect that seems to have pervaded all over the world and reached a peak in the 1960s & 1970s. It ran through these entire two decades and brought hope no matter what the obstacles on the way. No wonder Beatles were the ultimate craze through this period as also other great achievements like First man on another heavenly body (moon) in this universe. Even the fact India faced three wars during this period did not seem to dent this effect. Some of the best, melodious, Hindi Film music with wonderful lyrics was produced in these decades. Rajesh Khanna was probably the last flame that flickered the brightest for this Romantic streak. I Have enjoyed Amitabh Bachan movies, but with his 'Angry man' arrival, he practically signaled that the world had turned around and this romantic era had ended.

Enjoy the various shades of Romanticism that can be soaked from these songs, that of pining, bitter sweet, at times thrilling and flighty, some sensuousness, love and suspense but all with a clearly likable touch on the heart. While almost all songs are of Romance and Love, I have tried to include all shades of the fantastic and matchless range of music and composition that filled that era. I feel I should be including some of the 50s as well - and will do so at a later date. Now - why do I call this the Golden Era?
