Development History / Background: PangYa was initially released under the title Albatross18 in North America by publisher OGPlanet, but re-released with the original title in 2009 by Ntreev USA. The game switched publishers twice more since 2014, first from SG Interactive to MAYN Interactive in May, then to SmileGate Europe on September 2014. A global tournament for PangYa was held on January 22, 2011 in Tokyo, Japan with a total prize pool of $15,500 with first place receiving $5000.
The 2012 championship was held in Bangkok, Thailand on January 14. Due to a variety of reasons, (mainly the game's falling popularity) no championships were held since 2012.
